Clinching: an environmentally friendly bonding technique

Clinching is an environmentally friendly bonding technique for (sheet) metal. These days, environmental aspects are becoming increasingly important in deciding whether to invest in new production techniques.

Advantages of a clinch machine compared to spot welding:

  • joining lacquered and coated sheets;
  • zinc or aluminium coatings do not become damaged
  • verifiable quality
  • under dynamic load, the pressure joint connection is stronger than a spot weld connection
  • no sparks or toxic fumes (environmentally friendly)
  • no need for degreasing
  • low energy consumption (environmentally friendly)
  • cleaning of electrodes is no longer necessary
  • material properties are retained
  • intermediate layers of paper, foil, glue, or sealant are possible
