Float switches for level measurement

The operational principle of a float switch with a reed contact relies on utilizing a reed contact as a switching element. A float switch comprises a float, equipped with a magnet, which hovers on the liquid level.

As the liquid level changes, the float moves up or down. Upon reaching a certain level, the magnet approaches the reed contact. The reed contact consists of two magnetic contacts positioned in a glass sphere, separated by a small air gap.

When the float's magnet reaches the reed contact, the magnetic field attracts the contact points and brings them into close proximity. This action closes the contact points, completing an electrical circuit. This closed circuit can be employed to send a signal, such as activating an alarm or controlling a motor.

Float switches are available in various materials, including stainless steel (SS), plastic, and brass, to meet specific needs in different applications. These switches not only provide variation in material and dimensions but also flexibility concerning the number of contact points and mounting options. This allows for precise customization to meet the unique requirements of each specific situation.

Advantages

  • Accuracy: Float switches offer precise detection of liquid levels for exact control and regulation.
  • Reliability: Their robust construction and high-quality materials ensure long-term and reliable operation, even in demanding environments.
  • Easy Installation: Float switches are easy to install and seamlessly integrate into existing systems.
  • Low Maintenance: Thanks to their robust construction, float switches require minimal maintenance, saving time and costs.
  • Flexibility: There is a wide range of models and designs to meet individual requirements and operational conditions.
  • No Power Supply Required: Float switches are passive devices and, therefore, require no power supply.
  • Low Interference: They are not affected by factors such as foam, conductivity, dielectric, pressure, vacuum, temperature, etc.
  • Media Compatibility: Float switches are suitable for almost all types of media, such as oil, water, and chemicals.

Applications

Industrial Automation

In industrial automation, float switches play a crucial role in fluid monitoring. Whether in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, hydraulic systems, heating systems, or the food and beverage industry, our float switches enable precise control and regulation of fluids to ensure smooth operation and prevent potential damage.

Pump Control

Another significant application of float switches is in pump control. Our float switches monitor the fluid level and automatically control the switching on and off of pumps. This ensures efficient pump operation and prevents potential damage.

Monitoring and Control of Oil Levels

In the machinery and automotive industries, monitoring oil levels is crucial for the smooth operation of engines and transmissions. Our float switches provide accurate detection of oil levels and can be used to trigger warnings for low oil levels or to automatically control oil additions. This ensures reliable lubrication and prevents potential damage to machinery.

Industries

Float switches find applications in numerous industries. In the food industry, for example, they are used to monitor liquid levels in storage tanks and filling systems. In the chemical and petrochemical industries, they play a crucial role in safely handling chemicals and preventing overfills. They are also used in water treatment, mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, and many other fields where accurate liquid monitoring is required.
