body: steel, case hardened, nitrided, phosphate treated (Manganese) and ground;
clamping jaw: steel, case hardened, nitrided, phosphate treated (Manganese).
Characteristics:
the floating clamp is used to clamp and support additional clamping points on extremely pliable workpieces; clamping and supporting force can individually be designed;
the benefits of the floating clamp are:
1) avoids vibration during the processing;
2) clamps ribs, beads and shackles to reinforce clamped components;
3) distortion-free clamping of raw parts;
4) compact version with reduced height;
for specific clamping situations, the standard clamping jaws supplied can be exchanged or replaced (see catalogue drawing: screw ISO 4762 - M8 - 12.9, M max. = 43 Nm); *1: workholding M12 (SW18); tightening torques max. 15Nm; *2: locking SW 10 tightening torques max 10 Nm supporting force 8 kN; *3: clamping jaws interchangeable; *4: 4 x SW 2,5 adjustment of height abutment and swivelling range; *5: pivot 360°; *6: pivotable after assembly; *7: connection sizes for special clamping jaws.
Assembly:
1) mount the floating clamp (mounting holes for 5x M6, see drawing ) onto the device;
2) adjust the height limit stop and the rotating area with the sleeve and clamp with a set screw (4x SW 2.5); when setting the height limit, consider tolerance of workpiece.
Operation:
1) push the floating clamp downward.
2) pivot the clamping jaws in.
3) release floating clamp; the bottom jaw contacts the workpiece with a low spring force.
4) tighten the fixture nut (SW 18) having a maximum torque of 15 Nm. The workpiece is clamped; the clamp is still floating.
