If you are looking for corrosion-resistant gas springs because your gas spring will come into contact with water or must comply with certain hygiene requirements for instance, stainless steel gas springs are the perfect solution. BIBUS offers a complete range of stainless steel gas pressure springs, gas traction springs, lockable gas springs, and dampers especially for outdoor applications where stainless steel gas springs may come into contact with salt water (such as deck hatches, bathing platforms, landing steps, and captain seats).

We supply stainless steel 304 and 316L gas springs in a variety of types, lengths, and forces. By default,  stainless steel gas springs are supplied in high-quality stainless steel material 1.4404 (V4A or AISI-no. 316L). In certain cases and for certain sizes, the stainless steel gas springs can also be supplied as V2A (AISI 304). With the exception of the P-models of lockable gas springs and gas traction springs with damping, all stainless steel gas springs are equipped with a valve.

Stainless steel gas pressure springs

Gas pressure springs with a diameter of 6/15, 8/19, 10/22, 10/28, 14/28, 10/40, 14/40, and 20/40 are available in stainless steel. View all the possibilities.

Lockable gas springs

All type B, K, P, and KX lockable gas springs are available in stainless steel. View the possibilities.

Gas traction springs

Certain gas traction springs are also available in stainless steel. Standard gas traction springs with and without damping are available in stainless steel, whereas the lockable gas traction springs are only available in steel. View our gas traction springs.

Dampers

As is the case for stainless steel gas springs, dampers with diameters 6/15, 8/19, 10/22, 10/28, 14/28, 10/40, 14/40, and 20/40 are available in stainless steel. All models, including the standard MC dampers, MC dampers with floating piston, MC damper without free travel, HB damper, and V1 damper, are available in stainless steel. Only the V1 damper rotary knob is not available in stainless steel. View our range of dampers

Corrosion resistance of stainless steel gas springs

RVS 304 and 316L are the most common types of stainless steel. However, both materials differ significantly. RVS 304 is mainly used for indoor application and in the food industry. One weakness of stainless steel 304 is its sensitivity to chlorides and acids, which may result in local corrosion. Aggressive environments, such as seawater and coastal areas, may therefore be very unsuitable for 304 stainless steel gas springs. Stainless steel 316, on the other hand, is often recommended for outdoor applications. Other applications of 316 include laboratories, architecture, and boats.

Mounting parts

For optimum operation of stainless steel gas pressure springs, it is also important to choose the right mounting parts. For detailed and controlled use in your application, we offer a wide range of stainless steel mounting parts, including eyes, yokes, ball joints, and brackets. View the mounting parts
