An inspiring example of this is our collaboration with Focus&Speel, founded by mechanical engineer Jeroen Brienen, who tells us all about Focus&Speel.
Driven by his passion for technology, Jeroen came up with the idea of not just explaining technology to children, but above all letting them experience it for themselves. What began as a workshop during the opening day of a company in the manufacturing industry grew into a complete concept where technology, creativity, collaboration, and adventure come together.
The strength of Focus&Speel lies in building, testing, and improving things yourself. Children build multiple products that ultimately form a large chain reaction. One product activates the next, allowing children to directly experience how technology, movement, and mechanics work together. It is precisely the moment when everything really starts moving that sparks enthusiasm, wonder, and motivation to explore further.
While building, children follow assembly booklets filled with fun tips, amusing facts, and challenging tasks. Without it feeling like “learning,” they develop important skills such as logical thinking, problem-solving, manual dexterity, and creativity. By experimenting, making mistakes, and searching for solutions, they learn in a playful way how technology works in practice.
