What is the life span of a gas spring?

Of course, the number of strokes that a gas spring can make differs per application. The precise lifespan therefore depends on a number of factors. Such as dirt that ends up between the piston rod and the cylinder, the way in which the gas spring is attached or simply the intensity of use.

On average, Bansbach gas springs last between 50,000 and 100,000 double strokes. If the gas spring is installed correctly and operates in perfect conditions, hundreds of thousands of strokes are also possible. On this page you can read more about the operation of gas springs.

What does the price of a gas spring depend on?

The price of a gas spring is determined by several factors. One of the most important factors is the stroke. The longer the desired stroke, the longer the cylinder. This means that more material is required for production. The cylinder type and the material which is used also determine the price. Steel is the cheapest to manufacture, stainless steel is more expensive. Other factors are the corrosion resistance, the quality of the surface of the piston rod and the seals.

What is the delivery time for gas springs?

The delivery time of gas springs can be divided into two categories: quick ship gas springs and customized gas springs. This first group of gas springs has a delivery time of three days. These gas springs are not tailor-made, which is why these models have a short delivery time.

The customer-specific gas springs are specially produced for your application. As a result, the delivery time of custom-made gas springs is longer than the quick ship units. The standard, steel powder coated quick ship gas springs and the stainless steel quick ship examples fall into the fast ship category.

Can an old gas spring be refilled?

It is not advisable to top up gas springs. Wear and tear is often the cause of an empty gas spring. Topping up the gas spring therefore makes no sense. In addition, gas springs can only be topped up if a valve is integrated in the gas spring. The gas springs that BIBUS supplies come from Bansbach, Germany. These specimens will last around 50,000 - 100,000 strokes, so refilling the gas springs will not be an issue soon.

Can the speed of the gas spring be determined?

The customer-specific gas springs are manufactured according to your wishes. The speed of the gas spring can therefore also be adjusted depending on the application. For questions about the speed of gas springs, please contact our specialists.

What is the best gas spring for my application?

Does a gas spring need to be maintained?

The gas springs that Mparts supplies do not require maintenance. The piston position does not have to be oiled or greased.
