Calibrating industrial robots with optical sensors!

The addition of CAPTRON's ORL-OGLW series further expands BIBUS' range of products for industrial robots! CAPTRON introduces an innovative solution for calibrating robots using optical sensors. Using the crosswise laser light barriers in these Tool Center Point (TCP) sensors, the spatial zero point of tools attached to robots can be determined. The sensors can detect both metallic and non-metallic objects with a resolution as low as 0.2 mm! This extreme accuracy ensures a very precise position measurement of the tool end (Tool Center Point) of the robot. Advantages of automatically calibrating the TCP are:

less downtime thanks to increased process reliability, any wear or deformation of the tool, it is in fact corrected at each TCP calibration.
increased accuracy of the robot, the robot application is performed with higher precision as without TCP sensor, this leads to less rejects and rework.
reliable Tool Changes, the robot does a brief TCP calibration using the sensor to ensure that the Tool is placed correctly.
