Optical calibration sensors for cobots and robots
OGLW series Tool Center Point (TCP) sensors, using the crosswise laser light barriers in these sensors from Captron, the spatial zero point of tools attached to robots can be determined.
The sensors can detect both metallic and non-metallic objects with a resolution as low as 0.2 mm!
This extreme accuracy provides a very precise position measurement of the tool end (Tool Center Point) of the robot. Benefits of automatically calibrating the TCP of your robot or cobot using the Captron sensors are:
- Reduced downtime thanks to increased process reliability, as any tool wear or deformation is corrected with each TCP calibration.
- Increased accuracy of the robot, the robot application is performed with higher precision as without TCP sensor, this leads to less rejects and rework.
- Reliable Tool Changes, the robot does a short TCP calibration using the sensor to ensure that the Tool is placed correctly.
The above advantages are also recognized by robot manufacturers and have therefore led to market leaders such as Universal Robots also naming the Captron TCP sensors as a turnkey solution to increase the productivity and cost-effectiveness of their cobots. All Captron laser light barriers have a robust and durable metal housing of black anodized aluminum (IP65). The operating voltage can vary between 10 and 30 V DC and the switching current is up to 400 mA.
The TCP measurement units offer precise alignment capabilities with integrated fitting holes for precise positioning in the production environment. With minimal wiring, the laser measuring instruments are easy to mount. Optional additional protective covers can be included and the laser measurement unit can be equipped with a slave connection with M8 connector to allow connection and power an additional sensor
